Harold L. Thatcher
76, 2254 County Road Q, Hatley, died Friday, July 29, 2005 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at his home.
He was born March 20, 1929 in Chicago, son of the late Harold D. and Emma (Groh) Thatcher. On November 9, 1953 he married Violet Rickl at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Blenker. She survives.
Harold was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #383. He worked various construction jobs with Boldt Construction, Consolidated Construction, Lunda and Madsen Construction of Madison. Some of Harold's favorite pastimes were gardening, woodworking, tinkering with old cars, watching horse races and enjoying a Sunday cheering on his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Above all things in life Harold truly cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Survivors besides his wife Violet Thatcher, Hatley include his nine children, Richard (Barb) Thatcher, Kronenwetter, Marie (Bob) Blasey, Zimmerman, Minn., Mark (Celeste) Thatcher, Hatley, David (Johnny) Thatcher, Rockford, Ill., Geraldine (Mike Davis) Messer, Roswell, Ga., Charles (Lorrie) Thatcher, Hatley, Patty (Gary) Stefoneck, Mosinee, Kathy (Russell) Andersen, Wisconsin Rapids, Becky (Carl) Tollefson, Langdon, N.D., 16 grandchildren and one brother, Fred (Robin) Thatcher, Indianapolis, Ind.
Besides his parents Harold was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Earl Thatcher.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Blenker. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
