Harold "Butch" Petri

Harold "Butch" R. Petri, 89, Wausau, died Friday, January 11, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was led into heaven with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 15, 1923 in Wausau, son of the late Henry and Selma (Rutzinski) Petri. On June 17, 1943 he married Esther Lambrecht at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives. For over 30 years Butch drove truck for H. Phillips Liquor Company. He also served as a part time deputy with the Wausau Sherriff's Department and volunteered for over 17 years at Mount View Care Center with dart games, church services and many other activities. During his free time he loved fishing, hunting, poster art, ceramics and sharing his artwork with friends. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Butch served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Also in 2011 he was honored to be chosen to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Survivors include his wife, Esther, Wausau; three daughters, Janice (DuWayne) Revie, Weston, Julaine Petri, Merrill and Joreen (Harold) Jahsmann, Minocqua; foster son, Jon (Debra) Zuiker, Centreville, Virginia; six grandchildren, Tara (Rick) Koch, Stacey (John) Morache, Becki (Parrish) Klawitter, Trandy (Stacy) Revie, Wendy Jahsmann and Billy Hansen; two foster grandchildren, Kerri and Will Zuiker; seven great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Jenna, Dominic, Tyler, Max, Kyle, Hailey; and their dog, Pepper. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar Petri and a sister, Grace Hettinga. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013; friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Theodore Gulhaugen will officiate. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to all the staff and Pastors who cared for Dad at Mount View.
