Harold J. Lang

Harold J. Lang 85, formerly of Alpine Road, Marathon, died Saturday May 19, 2007 at North Central Health Care Facilities, Wausau, under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. He was born April 18, 1922, in the town of Cassel, son of the late Ignatius and Margaret (Dalsky) Lang. On October 2, 1948, he married Geraldine Wadzinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel. She survives. An army veteran of World War II, Harold was a Life Member and past Commander of the American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post #469, Marathon. He was a dairy farmer in the town of Cassel his entire life. Harold enjoyed spending time at his cottage up north, working in his woods and making firewood. Among his favorite pastimes were playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Crazy Eight, reading the paper and keeping up with current events as well as watching all types of sports, with the Badgers his favorite. Special to Harold was time spent with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Lang, three children, Yvonne (Thomas) Widzinski, Oshkosh, Charlene (Dale) Michlig, Rothschild, Terry (Susan) Lang, Wausau, ten grandchildren, Andrew Fisher, Allan & Ashley Widzinski, Keith (Angela) Michlig, Paul & Nicole Michlig, Markus, Terry Jr., Hanna and Derrick Lang, one great-grandchild, Brayden Michlig, his siblings, Hildegarde Rader, Marathon, Florence Matushak, Marathon, Margie (Art) Wilichowski, Rogers, Ark., Ruth (Harold) Butalla, Marathon and LeRoy (Jan) Lang, Marathon and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Fisher, and his siblings, Norma Edwards, Gilbert, Hugo, Reinhold, Reuben and Ralph Lang. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Weds. May 23, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. Rev. Barnabas Kyea will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be an American Legion Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday followed by a parish prayer service at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association or to Sacred Heart Parish. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff in Unit C at North Central Health Care Facilities for the love and concern extended to Harold during his time with them.
