Harold C. Denfeld

Harold C. Denfeld, 75, 5072 Thomas Hill Road, Edgar, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston. He was born November 19, 1927 in Wausau, son of the late Theodore and Frances (Hoffman) Denfeld. On May 5, 1962 he married Florence Wendt in Wausau. She survives. Harold was raised on the family farm in Rib Mountain and entered the military service in 1952. He was promoted to Corporal and became an instructor in artillary training. He was a member of the American Legion Sawyer - Drumm Post No. 393, Edgar. After the service, he worked at the Rothschild Paper Mill for 15 years and continued after that in the pulp business. In 1968, Harold and Florence operated Denfeld's Country Home Tavern for 10 years. Harold then logged in the woods until his retirement. Harold enjoyed polka dances, his friends and his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Florence Denfeld, Edgar; four sons Jeff (Donna) Denfeld, Edgar, John (Sandra) Denfeld, Stratford, Randall (Paula) Denfeld, Edgar, Richard (fiancee' Heather)Denfeld, Edgar; one daughter, Kathryn Denhof, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Scott Stroik, Clark Stroik, Michael Denfeld, Stephene Denfeld, Jenessa Denfeld, Holly Denfeld, Matthew Denfeld, Alaynna Denfeld and Michael (Trent) Rheinschmidt; three great grandchildren, Trent, Jacob and Adam Stroik; one brother Edward (Leona) Denfeld, Wausau; two sisters, Dorothy (Win) Beaty, Oregon and Delores Schubilske, Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Denfeld. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2003 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be an American Legion memorial service 7:00 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Edgar funeral home.
