Harold Bunkelman

Harold Bunkelman 80, Athens, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was born March 4, 1925 in Milan, son of the late Chester and Tillie (Suennen) Bunkelman. Harold was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. On August 5, 1950, he married Betty Kalepp at Trinity Lutheran Church. She survives. Together, Harold and Betty farmed in the town of Johnson, until retirement to Athens in 1981. When he was younger, he loved working with horses, and shared many good horse stories. Among many things, he enjoyed working in the woods during maple syrup season, playing cards, deer hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include, his wife, Betty; four sons, Jon (Jane) Bunkelman, Richard (Mary) Bunkelman, Kelly (Lois) Bunkelman and Nicolas (Annette) Bunkelman; three daughters, Carloyn (Edward) Heier, Kathleen (Kenneth) Ahrens and Sandy Betzner; sixteen grandchildren, Nicole (Steve), Heather, Randalyn, Nathan, Jenna, Keven, B.J., Autumn, Steve, Suzanne, Miranda, Samantha Jo, Allan, Ty, Eli and Sabrina; three great grandchildren, Rylee, Colton and Makenna; four brothers, Lloyd, Duane, Bernard and Gerald; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Wilmer, Chester Jr.; and one sister, Lorraine. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens, and again Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran School, Athens.
