Grant J. Hopperdietzel, 60, 7075 highway 97 North, Athens, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at his home. Grant was born February 14, 1942 in Merrill, son of the late Henry and Mae (Brenning) Hopperdietzel. He married Sandra Michalski, August 17, 1963, in Mosinee. She survives. Grant was a power engineer for Weyerhauser Manufacturing in Marshfield. Hunting, fishing and reading about history were among his favorite things to do. Above all he loved spending time with his granddaughter, Carrie. Besides his wife, Sandra, he is survived by one son, Scott (Sue) Hopperdietzel, Catawba; one daughter, Leela Hopperdietzel, Athens; one granddaughter, Carrie Frahm; three step-grandsons, John, Jason, and Jordan Valiga. The funeral service will be 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Friends may call from 1 p.m., Wednesday, until the time of the service at the Athens funeral home.
