In a world painted with the vibrant hues of Gordon L. "Gordy" Steinke's 77 years, we bid farewell to a man who left an indelible mark on the canvas of Wausau, WI. Gordy, born on December 10, 1946, in Wausau, embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
A proud veteran, Gordy served his country in the United States Army, embodying the spirit of dedication that would define his entire life. Love came knocking in the form of Linda Drake, and though their paths diverged, the bond of friendship endured. Gordy found a new chapter of love with Donna Regner, tying the knot in Wausau, WI on June 14th, 2003.
As the owner of Precise Painting, Gordy adorned the cityscape with his colorful strokes, turning houses into homes and leaving behind a legacy that will forever brighten the neighborhoods he touched. Beyond the paintbrush, Gordy cast his line into the waters of his favorite fishing spots, swung his clubs on the local golf courses, and found solace in the warm embrace of Florida's winters with his beloved wife, Donna.
As a member of the Men of Honor in Wausau, Gordy added his unique flair to the camaraderie of this esteemed group. Vegas lights held a special allure for him, contributing a dash of excitement to his already lively spirit.
Survived by his loving wife, Donna Steinke, his son, Bob (Julie) Steinke, and the apple of his eye, granddaughter Jaida Steinke, Gordy's legacy extends to a blended family. Stepchildren Rick (Rose) Polster, Jackie (Tim) Durigan, Audrey (Matt) Kelly, Scott (Brenda) Polster, Robert (Sara) Polster, and John Regner, along with nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Gordy is also survived by his sister, Janet Mohr, and his brother, Kenneth Steinke.
Preceding Gordy on the journey beyond were his parents, his first wife Linda, sister-in-law Sue Steinke, and brother-in-law Richard Greguire Sr. Their spirits, like Gordy's, now dance among the stars.
A celebration of Gordy's vibrant life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
