Gordon Leroy Maxwell

Gordon L. Maxwell 81, 4610 Eighth Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin died Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. Gordon was born September 20, 1920 in Amherst, Wisconsin, son of the late George and Minnie (Penney) Maxwell. He was a 1939 graduate of Amherst high School. Gordon married Ada Hathaway December 23, 1942 in Milwaukee. She survives. Gordon was employed as an electrician at Consolidated Papers, Wisconsin Rapids for 33 years. After retiring in 1982, Gordon and Ada moved to Bradenton, Florida and returned to Wisconsin Rapids in 2000. Gordon served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and he was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2534, Wisconsin Rapids. Survivors besides his wife, Ada Maxwell, Wisconsin Rapids, include one daughter, Penny Heineck, Madison, one son, Mark (Marla) Maxwell, Wisconsin Rapids, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Private family memorial services and burial will be held at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Gordon's name is being established. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau is in charge of the arrangements.
