Gordon A. Leffel

Gordon A. Leffel 85, Wausau, formerly of the town of Wien, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born February 10, 1924 in the town of Wien, son of the late Henry and Meta (Steffen) Leffel. For most of his life, Gordon was a farm hand in the town of Wien and enjoyed going to the baseball games in Fenwood. Gordon then went to live at Mount View Care Center, where he has resided for the past 23 years. Among his many interests, he enjoyed making birds out of wood and painting them, listening to polka music, playing cards and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church. Survivors include, three sisters, Adeline Dahm, Milwaukee, Margaret Taylor and Elaine Dahlke, both of Wausau; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arden and Norman Leffel; and five sisters, Deloris Leffel, Mildred Liebers, Caroline Guillaume, Irene Havlovick and Lorraine Reuter. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, W1000 County Road N, town of Wien. Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Mount View Care Center, Wausau or St. John Lutheran Church, town of Wien.
