Gordon Dean Haggerty, 76, town of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 24, 1949 in Boscobel, son of the late Merlin and Carol Mae (Larsen) Haggerty. On June 2, 1973, he married his beloved wife of 51 years, Charlene “Char” Luchterhand at Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton.
Gordon was a veteran of the United States Army. For 32 years, he taught electronics at NTC in Wausau until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing, especially trips to Canada with his family, working outside with his tractor, spending time at the farm he grew up at and gardening. He also loved taking family vacations, camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Gordon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Char; two children, Ben (Dorothy) Haggerty, Wausau and Sylvia (Joshua) Pierce, Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Fletcher and Brenna Haggerty; one sister, Carolyn (Dick) Prucha, Cambridge; one sister-in-law, Lori Haggerty, Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Wayne.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Joel Willitz will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the Union Hill Cemetery in Mount Zion at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Gordon’s memory. Funds will go towards a Parkinson’s research organization.
