Gordon Baumann

Gordon "Gordy" A. Baumann 52, town of Texas, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 27, 1957 in Wausau, the son of Wilbur and Marilyn (Kittel) Baumann of Merrill. On June 2, 1979, he married Cheryl Asmundsen in Wausau. Gordy graduated from Wausau East High School in 1976 and started working for Ghidorzi Construction Company. He was a superintendent with the company at the time of his death. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and playing pool and softball on various local leagues. He could often be found tinkering in his garage or working in his garden. Gordy loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time with his family and friends in Ontonagon, Michigan and at Willow Wood Resort in Tomahawk. Besides his parents, survivors include his four children, Nicholas (Michelle) Baumann, Kronenwetter, Jessica (Eric) Pergolski, Little Chicago, Amanda Baumann, Weston and Amber (Charlie) Emerson, Wausau; three grandchildren, Jadden, Keeley and Kassandra; five siblings, Cheryl (Duane) Tietz, Mosinee, Randy (Paul Cybula) Baumann, Merrill, Cindy (Judy Schraufnagel) Baumann, Wausau, Scott (May Khang) Baumann, Rib Mountain and Sheldon (Tina) Baumann, Wausau; girlfriend, Ruth Schlitz, Merrill; father-in-law, Charles "Doug" Asmundsen, Wausau; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James Asmundsen, Wausau, Cathy (Vern) Block, Ringle, Richard (Gwen Kieffer) Asmundsen, Wausau, Michael (Cathy) Asmundsen, Merrill, Kenneth (Linda) Asmundsen, Merrill and Angela (Jeff Goetsch) Asmundsen, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl and mother-in-law, Darlene Asmundsen. Funeral services will 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. John Meachen will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
