Gloria M. Knippel

Gloria Maria Knippel, 83, Wausau, went safely home to Heaven on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born December 28, 1932 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Isadore and Frances (Pulizzi) Larson. On April 11, 1953 she married Andrew "Andy" James Knippel at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2011. Faith and family were the two most important elements of Gloria's life. She was never without her rosary, and she recited the "Hail Mary" during each phone call with her children during her later years. Gloria was an excellent pianist, playing sheet music until only two short years ago. Her children have fond memories of her leading them in song. She also enjoyed painting watercolor paintings, was very fashionable (and always dressed to the nines!), and was an excellent cook. She had a great love and compassion for animals and nature, especially trees. She loved when the leaves fell, and she could appreciate the shape and structure of the tree itself. Above all she loved her family and cherished time spent with them. Survivors include her children, Gregory Kennedy, Vacaville, California, Thomas (Kari Uselman) Knippel, Oshkosh/California, Mary (Moody) Schretlen, Monkton, Maryland, Judith (Timothy) Haskin, Tomahawk and Virginia (Michael Peterson) Knippel, New London; grandchildren, Lukas, Brooke, Dustin, Stephanie, Paul, Matthew, Sarah, Claire, John, Katherine and William; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Carol) Larson, Marinette. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Andrew. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
