Gladys M. Hack
74, Marathon, died Friday March 21, 2008 at her home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born October 29, 1933 in Schofield, daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Mieska) Stoltz. On October 25, 1958, she married Norman "Red" Hack at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He survives.
Gladys had been employed at the former Steffke Freight, where she made many close friends. Along with her husband, Norman, the Hack's operated a dairy farm in the town of Marathon for many years. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, the Justice and Peace Committee, and the Martha's at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Gladys also taught CCD at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. Among her favorite things to do were bowling, playing billiards, visiting with family and friends and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and in prayer.
Survivors include her husband, Norman "Red" Hack, Marathon; her children, Mary Hack, Marathon, Peter Hack, Marathon, Kathleen (David) Ostrowski, Ringle, Marge (Thomas) Kreager, Mosinee; two grandchildren, Katie Suchomski and Johnny Kreager; four siblings, Violet Gorski, Schofield, Daniel (Judy) Stoltz, Weston, Billy (Betty) Stoltz, Schofield and Phillip Stoltz, Schofield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Irene and Hubert Stoltz and a brother-in-law, Daniel Gorski.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Weds. March 26, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again on Weds. from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Comfort Care and Hospice Services and special heartfelt thanks to niece Jane Wecker RN for the love, care and concern given to Gladys during her illness.
