Gladys M. Gibberd, 84, Wausau died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born August 19, 1931 in Poniatowski, daughter of the late Lawrence and Lydia (Rauen) Bradfish. On August 20, 1955 she married Wayne Gibberd at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives.
In her earlier years Gladys stayed at home and raised her four children. She had a passion for doing seamstress work and was proud to do it for many people in the Wausau area and also any needs that came about at St. Michael Catholic Church.
After her children were raised, Gladys went on to be the office manager at the Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce. Following the Chamber, she went to work as a secretary for the Alexander Properties until her retirement. Some of her hobbies included knitting, crossword puzzles, gardening, camping and being a faithful member at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Gladys was instrumental with starting up the Deaf Education System in Wausau and also the first handicap Cub Scout Pack. She was proud to be a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. In her retirement, she was active in helping maintain Camp Phillips Boy Scout Camp with her husband Wayne.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Gibberd, Wausau, her children, Catherine (Rick) Thompson, Waldorf, Maryland, Barbara (David) Danko, Gilman, Eileen (Stephen) Roberts, Appleton and Michael (Sandra) Gibberd, Mosinee, six grandchildren, Sean (Emily Risner) Thompson, Vanessa (Justin) Bressler, Kristina Thompson, Josh (Derek) Roberts, Aaron Roberts and Brian (Kasey) Gibberd, two great grandchildren, Arleena Thompson and Olive Bressler, one brother, Jerome (Pat) Bradfish, Schofield and one sister, Helen Wiskowski, Aurora, Illinois and one sister-in-law, Chris Gibberd, Wausau. Gladys is further survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Joseph "Bud" Martin, two brothers-in-law, Thomas and Mark Gibberd and her nephews, Nicholas Gibberd, Dale Bradfish and David Martin.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
