Gertrude A. Fisher

Gertrude A. Fisher 78, Wausau, entered eternal life with Jesus, Sunday, July 5, 2009 at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau. She was born September 11, 1930 in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late John and Anne (Slewitzke) Drewek. Gertrude worked in Customer Service at Marathon Savings and Loan until her retirement. She loved to read and will be remembered for her pleasant demeanor even through her struggle with dementia. Survivors include her three children, Cheryl Fisher, Wausau, Barbara Fisher, Wausau and Bruce (Leah) Fisher, Kronenwetter; two grandchildren, Seth Fisher and Luke Fisher; two brothers, John Drewek, Tucson, Ariz. and Donald (Shirley) Drewek, Little Lake, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Marathon County Social Services, the staff at Cady Home, Wausau and North Central Health Care, Wausau for filling the last years of Gertrude's life with purpose and dignity.
