Geraldine ''Gerry'' Murkowski

Geraldine "Gerry" Murkowski 65, R5580 Meridian Road, Athens, died Thursday May 30, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born April 26, 1937 in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of Marie (Switlick) Sprenger, Athens, and the late William Sprenger Sr. On June 2, 1956 she married Raymond Murkowski at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He survives. Geraldine's life revolved around family, especially her grandchildren, being a homemaker and cooking delicious food to share with her loved ones. She was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women at Holy Family Catholic Church and the Rietbrock Homemakers. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling and planning parties. Survivors besides her husband, Raymond and mother, Marie, include her children, Deb (Jerr) Seubert, Poniatowski, and their sons, Josh and Seth; Pam (Rick) Stencil, Edgar and their children, Sara, Steve and Stacey; Randy (Therese) Murkowski, Marathon, and their children, Hilary, Adam, Ashleigh and Christian; Brenda Murkowski, Poniatowski; Russ Murkowski, Poniatowski, and his children, Heather, Heidi, Breanna and Bret; and Richard (Laura) Murkowski, Poniatowski, and their children, Bradly, Ryan and Dana; one sister, Trish Seubert, Butternut, one brother, Bill (Fran) Sprenger, Marathon. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kay Becker. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 3, 2002 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Athens funeral home.
