Gerald ''Jerry'' Walters

Gerald F. Walters 78, a former Wausau resident, known to his many friends and family as "Jerry", passed away Sunday, January 5 in Dallas, Texas from complications following a fall. Gerald was born in Rothschild Wisconsin on February 8, 1924. Jerry attended high school in Wausau where he was a champion hockey player and a fine student. He joined the Navy to serve his country during World War II, participating in the Normandy invasion. On May 4, 1946 he married Lila Moersch in Wausau, and was a loving husband and partner to the time of his death. He worked at the American Can Company in a variety of managerial positions for his entire professional career. Jerry was a member of the Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas. Besides his wife, Lila; survivors include three children, Ron Walters, Patrice Callies and Jay Walters; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Cecilia Walters, Joan Swedish, Clair Krienke and Loretta Unertl. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
