Gerald L. Tritten, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Weston under Hospice Care.

He was born May 18, 1944 in Wausau, son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Zimmerman) Tritten. On April 1, 1978 he married Charlotte Hackbarth in Wausau. She survives.

Gerald and Charlotte lived in the Merrill area until his declining health 3 years ago and was moved to Care Partners, not quite a year ago.

Gerald started working at Connors in Wausau until they closed their doors and then he went to work at the Town of Texas Quarry. Following that he went to work in the maintenance department at Lintec until his retirement at 62.

Gerald loved hunting and fishing with a passion and had a deep love for his tractors. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch and watch Nature pass bye. Gerald loved shooting the breeze with anyone that came around.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Charlotte Tritten, Wausau, one sister, Mary Schepp, Wausau, five sister-in-law, (AKA) the Hackbarth girls, Linda (Dale) Barttelt, Sheboygan, Karen (Roger) Erdman, Wausau, Debbie Hackbarth, Wausau, Denise (Ken) Sala, Wausau and Brenda (Dave) Blaubach, Wausau, two aunt-in-laws, Virginia (Gilbert) Erdman and Adeline Krause and 22 nieces and nephews, Susie and Patrick, Sandy, Lisa, Matthew, Linda, Amanda and Ted, Randy and Reba, Kasey and Megan, Travis and Kelly, Jamie and Josh, Cale and Sara, Cody and Zack, Reanna and Rahul. He is further survived by 13 great nieces and nephews, Lucas, Jacob, Wheylan, Jolene, Clara, Emma, Addyson, Grace, Kylee, Croy, Selena, Allen and Hunter.

Gerald was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Butch Schepp and one sister-in-law, Rose Hackbarth.

At Gerald’s request there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers memorials for Gerald may be directed to Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, WI, 54403. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.

I say goodbye to my husband, friend and confidant. You will be greatly missed but I know you needed to walk into the Light. We will meet again in Heaven. Love you Forever, Charlotte.
