Gerald R. Straub
76, Rib Mountain died Sunday February 17, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.
He was born June 1, 1931 in Chicago, son of the late Herbert and Mathilda (King) Straub. On October 4, 1951 he married Luella Thurs at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2008.
Gerald graduated from St. Norbert's High School in DePere in 1949. He worked as a machinist at Marathon Electric for many years. Following in his fathers footsteps he enjoyed beekeeping first as a hobby and then later it became his full time job and passion.
Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954.
Survivors include his children, Susan Behling, Marshfield, Linda (Don) Patterson, Ringle, Diane (Bill) Petersen, Little Canada, MN, Sharon (Jerry) Hetzel, Neenah, Janice Straub, Wausau, David (Laura) Straub, Wausau, his grandchildren, Alissa and Trina Behling, Amanda, Matthew and Ashley Patterson, Jonathan (Andrea) Petersen and Jenny (Jeff) Dexheimer, Eric and Emily Hetzel and Michelle, Mitchell and Jordan Straub and one sister, Darlene (Joe) Novitzke, Minocqua.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister Maureen Adamski.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Gerald's name.
