Gerald Edward Schumacher

July 11, 1944 — June 13, 2005

Gerald Edward Schumacher 60, of Townsend, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 13, 2005 while at work. He was born July 11, 1944 in Baraboo, son of the late Arthur and Emmaline (Kruthoff) Schumacher. Gerald was the beloved father of daughter Tammy Stencil, Mosinee and son Gerald Schumacher, Wausau and beloved grandfather to Alicia, who was his pride and joy. Gerald is further survived by one brother, Lorin "Curly" (Sharon) Schumacker, Edgar; three sisters, Janet (Edward) Roberts, Diane (Rodney) Zuelke, all of Wausau and Linda (Gary) Habeck, Corvallis Mont.; one brother-in-law, Glenn Rusch, Wausau; one uncle; two aunts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jeffrey Stencil; and one sister, Carolee Rusch. For the past twenty years, Gerald was a devoted employee of Asplundh Tree Experts Company. Prior to that employment, he worked for Acme Tree Surgery for twenty years. Gerald was well liked and respected by his co-workers, who spoke very highly of him thus becoming very close friends with many of them. Gerald also spent time in England and Ireland, training employees for Asplundh Tree Experts. Among his many interests, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and trapping. Several years ago, he attended a National Trappers Association event in Russia. He also enjoyed bowling, listening to polka and blue grass music and picking blackberries to make blackberry wine with his neighbor, sharing the homemade wine with family and friends. Always extending a helping hand Gerald purchased a portable sawmill to help family and friends cut boards, and was always willing to help anyone in their time of need. Gerald was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many people to numerous to mention. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church, Highway N, Edgar. Rev. Jeff Tarras will officiate. Burial will be in the Fenwood Cemetery.
