Gerald C. Reynolds, 88, died Saturday August 13, 2016 at his home.
He was born December 3, 1927 in Aniwa, son of the late Kenneth and Ella (Timm) Reynolds. On October 2, 1952, he married Joyce Wincentsen in Wittenberg. She preceded him in death May 1, 2007.
Jerry joined the Merchant Marines and later joined the Army followed by a call to Reserve Duty in the 50's. During his honorable service to our country, he earned the World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388 and the American Legion, Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post No. 10.
Jerry was a self-taught musician beginning his career in the 1930's playing for parties and dances with his mother and paternal grandfather. While in the Army, he performed with the 10th Constabulary Regiment and with MacArthur's Band in Tokyo. During the 50's and 60's he performed with many area bands. In later years, Jerry played for various nursing homes, fund raising events and charities.
Retiring in 1990 after being employed for 38 years with Marathon Electric, Jerry also served on the International Board of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include his children, Scott (Kimberly) Reynolds, Reno, Randy (Sandy) Reynolds, Milan, Mike (Amy) Reynolds, Elderon, Kris (Lisa) Reynolds, Wausau, Carla (John) Shult, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis, and siblings, Betty Bemis, Donovan and Willard Reynolds.
Funeral services will be Noon Friday August 19, 2016 at the Hogarty Community Church. Burial will be in the Aniwa Union Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
