Gerald J. Nowak

Gerald "Jerry" Nowak 77, Merrill, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 7, 1933 in West Allis, son of the late John and Mary (Krause) Nowak. On October 15, 1966 he married Charlene Seipp in Duluth, MN. She survives. Jerry graduated from Edgar High School and also graduated from Marquette University with an accounting degree. Jerry was an accountant with Weinbrenner Shoe Co. in Merrill for 29 years. Some of his favorite pastimes included camping, traveling and many outdoor activities, but he never passed on an opportunity to spend time with his family. Jerry served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Survivors include his wife Charlene Nowak, Merrill, his son, Christopher (Rhonda) Nowak, Merrill, his daughter, Mary Joy Nowak, Fort Lauderdale, FL., granddaughter, Ashley Nowak and grandson, Nickolas Nowak, both of Merrill, one sister, Florence Boerner, Port Edwards, two brothers, James Nowak and Roy Nowak, both of Wausau. A memorial mass will be held Noon, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
