Gerald "Jerry" L. Kostka

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Kostka, 82, of Wausau passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS.

He was born on March 25, 1943, in Wausau to Edna and Albert Kostka. He graduated from Wausau High in 1961 and spent his career at People’s State Bank.

In his younger years Jerry competed in many triathlons. He loved riding his Harley and enjoyed golfing with friends. Those who knew Jerry, know that his brilliant smile never faded during his illness and he will continue to smile on forever.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Hoss), Son, Tim (Rachael) and Daughter, Tammy (Keith) Hannasch; grandkids, Gunnar Kostka, Payton Hannasch (Jordan), Parker Hannasch, and Isabella Hannasch; sister, Kristine (Mark) Thorne; brothers, Richard Kostka and Tom Kostka and sister-in-law, Lorrie Trimble and sister-in law, Mary Kohnhorst, and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Judith Kostka and brother-in-law, Wilbur Kohnhorst.

The family would like to thank Aspirus Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Jerry’s final days.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
