Georgiana (Zynda) Gorski, 86 years young, was welcomed into the waiting arms of her Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, May 4, 2018, following a brief cancer struggle. Her loving husband of over 68 years, Raymond ("Rudy"), and several of their children were by her side as she journeyed peacefully to her Heavenly Welcome Home party.
Georgiana was born to the late Leo and Rose (Hurrish) Zynda in Bevent, WI on April 20, 1932. Her first date with Rudy was in July of 1948, and on September 17, 1949, they were married at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Wausau. They made their home in Wausau, living in the same house for 57 years and raising eight of their nine children.
Georgiana worked for many years at the ACE Motel (now the Applebee's complex in Wausau). She was an active member at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wausau, where she helped to serve many funeral meals, crafted rosaries for missions, and volunteered in many other capacities. She served on the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Salvation Army.
Never one to miss an important day or event in the lives of her family, Georgiana religiously mailed out cards for every occasion, attended sports events, plays, and celebrations, and simply took excellent care of everyone she encountered. She enjoyed quilting, watching gameshows, and working out at Curves even in the past year as an octogenarian!
Georgiana will be profoundly missed by her husband Rudy; seven of their children: Leroy (Debra) Gorski, Ken (Sally) Gorski, Mary (Ernie) Harris, Glen Gorski, Rod (Deborah) Gorski, Jerry Gorski (LuAnn Miller), all of the greater Wausau area, and Patrick (Dawn) Gorski of Green Bay; 14 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special niece Carol Sliwicki; and sister Rosemary Fenn.
Among many other extended family members and friends, Georgiana was greeted in Heaven by her: parents; nine brothers (Ben, Alex, Ed, Emil, Stanley, Donald, Steven, David, and her twin George Zynda); three sisters (Eleanor Rabhel, Ernestine Wanta, and Alice Rozmarynowski); infant son Dennis Gorski; daughter Francine ("Buffy") Gorski; daughter-in-law Sharon Gorski; grandson Jody Gorski; and step-great-granddaughter Paige Bootz.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
