Georgia D. Gilbertson

Georgia D. Gilbertson, 73, Wausau, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born May 28, 1944 in Wausau and raised in Rothschild, WI, daughter of the late George and Josephine (Trybula) Radtke. On November 9, 1974 she married Russell Gilbertson in Wausau. He survives. She is also survived by a sister, Sharon (Radtke/Kramer) Yirkovsky of Wausau, many special nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, with an especially close relationship with nephew, Rod Kramer of Southlake, TX. After graduating from DC Everest high school, Georgia proudly worked for 34 years at Wausau Insurance. She enjoyed traveling, was an outstanding fisher in Canada, often out-fishing her husband, and kept her home and yard neat and tidy. She spent several years researching and documenting her family genealogy. She maintained three large binders (scrapbooks) with family pictures, documents and charts showing family relationships. Needed information was gathered online and visiting about a dozen county register of deed offices as well as cemeteries, taking photos of found gravestones. She often served as the family photographer at family gatherings. For many years she, along with her husband, maintained a section of The Ice Age National Scenic Trail in Marathon County, only stopping after hip surgery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas and Maurice, both of Rothschild, WI Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
