George R. Woodrich

George R. Woodrich 68, Wausau, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 10, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Important and central to his life was his belief in God and his involvement with St. John Lutheran Church and School, town of Easton. Known for his love of family, love of God and love of good conversation, he will be missed by many that considered him a friend. Visiting with friends and customers was a joy to him. He was always willing to pitch in and lend a hand when needed. A graduate of Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa and University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, his early career was as a social worker at Lutheran Social Services, Wausau, and in children's home licensing in the state of Washington and in.the Wausau School District as a social worker. His career path changed and he became a Realtor, Auctioneer and Business owner. He and Joanne started Woodrich Real Estate & Auctions in the mid 1970's and became owners of the Sunset Country Store in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Joanne; son, Chi R. (Karen) Woodrich, Champaign, Ill.; daughter, Noya (Luis) Landa, Minneapolis, Minn.; and grandson, Tuari Landa; sister, Charin (Delmer) Brockshus, Spencer, Iowa; stepmother, Marie Woodrich, Spencer, Iowa; and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father and mother the Rev. Glenn Woodrich and Martha (Zink) Woodrich. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Easton. Rev. Timothy Coppersmith will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church.
