George R. Wendorf

George R. Wendorf, 95, Wausau died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born April 7, 1919 in Schofield, son of the late Richard and Lena (Weisman) Wendorf. On March 23, 1946 he married Marion Gaedtke in Wausau. She survives. George was the parts manager at the former Eggebrecht Oldsmobile and Cadillac for many years. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing and listening to the Milwaukee Braves on the radio. He took great pride in taking his grandchildren out fishing. In his retirement years George enjoyed woodworking and creating many different crafts for his family. George proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388 and also the Last Mans Club, both of Wausau. Survivors include his wife, Marion Wendorf, Wausau, his children, Rod (Linda) Wendorf, Schofield and Laurie (Jack) Kruit, Wausau, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Blank, Dorothy Teige and Ervin and Helmuth Wendorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Dr. Philip C. Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau.
