George Dell Geier

January 23, 1924 — March 11, 2012

George Dell Geier 88, Wausau died unexpectedly Sunday March 11, 2012 at his home. He was born January 23, 1924 in Wausau, son of the late Walter and Grace (Callahan) Geier. On October 26, 1946 he married Marion Fell at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. She survives. George was a self employed builder and was also the owner of Snowmobile Sales and Service, one of the early snowmobile dealers in the Wausau area, well known for his small engine repair. He also served the Boy Scouts by taking troops on camping and canoeing trips to the Boundary Waters. George was also a chef at Trail's End Tavern where he was famous for his Finnish Bake fish recipe. Some of George's favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and spending time with his family and friends. George also enjoyed snowmobiling and was a charter member of the Rib Knights Snowmobile Club. George proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 555TH Heavy Ponton Battalion during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Marion Geier, Wausau, two children, Randy (Debra) Geier, Wausau and Rick Geier, Wausau, three grandchildren, Michaela, Rebecca and Reese Geier, all of Wausau, his siblings, Kathleen Harrell, North Chicago, IL, Vilas "Pete" (Peggy) Geier, Havelock, NC, Charlotte (George) Engebrecht, Bloomington, MN, Allen (Sheila) Geier, Mosinee, Patricia (Tom) Smith, Wiggins, CO and Mary Kay (Max) LeCrone, West Union, IL along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, LeRoy, Forrest, Clarence and Jack and one sister Gertrude Wunsch. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. The Rev. Wayne Drueck will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
