Gary L. Weden

May 15, 1959 — March 5, 2024

Gary L. Weden (64), a baptized child of God, was called home into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on March 5, 2024.

Gary was the eldest child of Lyle and Karen (Manicke) Weden and was born on May 15th 1959 at Wausau Hospital.  Growing up on his parent’s dairy farm, in the town of Hewitt, Gary’s life was always surrounded by the agriculture industry.  As a teenager Gary began tying feed sacks at Cloverbelt Cooperative Feed Mill in Wausau where he worked until he would take a position in Schofield at Cloverbelt’s Fertilizer division as an agronomist and eventual Fertilizer Plant manager for several years.  In 1993, Gary became a territory manager in agricultural and fertilizer equipment for FEi inc./Davis Equipment based in Minnesota.  After more than a decade traveling the state providing countless farmers and dozens of co-ops with the necessary equipment, in 2006 Gary was brought on to the family at United Cooperative in Beaver Dam, WI.

There he successfully helped manage their ever growing fleet of equipment, vehicles, as well as oversaw numerous other projects.  No matter what plans had to be made or piece of equipment needed to be tended to, Gary saw to it that the job got done, regardless of the day or hour.  He was a dedicated employee who had a profound grasp and expansive knowledge of all things related to agriculture and was remarkable at what he did as he was regularly sought out for his recommendations on a wide array of day to day issues.

Gary was married to his high school sweetheart, Patti Winter, on October 27th 1978 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wausau.  The Lord blessed their life together including the gifts of their three sons: Curt, Steven, and Andrew. They were additionally blessed with seven grandchildren.

Gary quietly worked hard his entire life to provide for his family and always made sure that there were opportunities for fun together with snowmobiles, dirt bikes, atvs, and motorcycles. Gary especially enjoyed riding his Harley in recent years as well as attending various stock car races and tractor pulls at the local track during the summers.

Gary is survived by a family who is proud of him and all of his many accomplishments.  His family includes, his devoted wife, Patti, and his three children and their families:  Curt (Kathy) Weden and his daughters Evelyn, Iris, and Lily of Schofield, WI, Steven (Kim) Weden of Phillips, WI, and Andrew (Julianna) Weden and their children Caleb, Naomi, and Micah of Rosholt, WI, as well as his three siblings, Neal, Wendy, and Craig and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Karen (2003) and Lyle (2020) and his dear grandson, Quintin (2023).

A Christian funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church (238145 Star Rd, Aniwa, WI 54408) at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  Pastor Ryan Fehrmann will officiate. A time of visitation for family, friends, and neighbors will precede at the church starting at 9:00am until the time of service.  A Christian burial will take place at Hogarty Riverside Cemetery in the afternoon following a luncheon.

A special thank you to Lauren Seltrecht of Wausau for her gentle care of Gary while he was in hospice; similarly and although woefully inadequate, a sincere and very special thank you is to be given to Jeremy Parmer and Allison Rutta-Parmer of Ringle, WI for their faithful care and loving service to Gary during his final days.  You’re compassion and graciousness was an absolute gift and a true reflection of our Savior, Jesus.  Thank you.
