Gary J. Plaza

Gary J. Plaza 62, 1102 S. 19th Ave, Wausau, entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services, at his home. He was born on May 24, 1946 in LaCrosse, son of the late Stanley and Helen (Garske) Plaza, and brother to the late Stanley J. Plaza Jr. Gary is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Stanley, Onalaska and Brenda M. (Jeremy) Oneal, Wausau; four grandchildren, Paige E. and Marissa J. Stanley, Darren J. and Skylar A. Oneal; an aunt, Kay Garske, Rothschild and many cousins. On June 30, 1979 he was united in marriage to the late Phyllis M. (Pufahl) Lerch. She has two sons, Scott A. Lerch, Wausau and Mark D. (Joleen) Lerch, Mosinee. Gary was employed by Crystal Finishing Inc. of Schofield. Gary's faith was a source of strength to him and he was a member of the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus. He held many positions in the church including C.C.D. teacher, commissioned lay minister, finance committee, buildings and grounds, Jubilee House and other areas as needed. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Wausau Council #1069. The memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 8 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau.
