Gary Kittel

August 8, 1957 — November 30, 2025

Gary Kittel, 68, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on August 8, 1957, in Wausau, to the late Walter and Marie (Petrowski) Kittel. Gary was united in marriage to Beth Gebhardt in Wausau on August 6, 1988. For many years Gary worked at PDM Bridge and later, Veritas Steel, in Wausau.

Much of Gary’s time outside of his work was spent with his family enjoying the outdoors and the activities that it has to offer. He loved the time spent camping at various locations with his family and extended family. Gary was especially fond of camping near the Mondeaux Flowage in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. While there, with Beth and their sons, they would hone their skills with a sling shot to knock over cans, work to create dry spaces in the rain by raising tarps, and then playing cards and games under the tarps so they could still enjoy being outside. They all loved cooking over the campfire and enjoying their meals at the campsite. During some of the campouts extended family would also join and would include brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

While his sons, Joseph and Ben, were growing up they were members of the Boy Scouts. Gary treasured the time he could spend with them helping them through their ranks and going on the scout trips. They went to the Boundary Waters canoeing, hiking trips to the Bighorn Mountains, Porcupine Mountain, Picture Rock, and horseback riding in Wyoming.

Some of Gary’s other hobbies and favorite past times included having campfires in the back yard, canoeing, deer hunting, and fishing.

Once Gary became a grandfather, he loved spending time and babysitting his granddaughter, Haylee. He loved the visits, receiving big hugs and kisses, and watching Disney movies together during weekend visits with grandma and grandpa.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; children, Jospeh (Jessica) Kittel and Ben Kittel; granddaughter, Haylee Kittel; siblings, Sheila (Dennis) Czerwinski, Roger Kittel, Cheryl (David) Berg, Linda Gray, and Lori Kittel-Gettig; in-laws, Paticia Gebhardt, Tim (Pam) Gebhardt, and Kent Plowman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Kittel; brothers, Tommy Kittel and Mike Kittel; father-in-law, Joseph Gebhardt; brother-in-law, Scott Gray; and sister-in-law, Amy Plowman.
