Gary R. Achterberg

Gary R. Achterberg, 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Azura Memory Care, Rib Mountain, under the care of Interim Hospice.

He was born March 17, 1937 in Wausau, son of the late Lorenz and Elva (Cooper) Achterberg.  He married Judy Setula, she preceded him in death.

For many years, Gary worked for Weyerhaeuser Corp. until his retirement.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include one sister, Lois (Robert) Hudelson, Fond du lac; and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Achterberg, Weston.

Committal prayers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 10, Wausau.
