Gale D. Lemma

Gale D. Lemma 82, 1106 Cherry Street, Wausau died Friday, July 27, 2007 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born December 27, 1925 in Wausau, son of the late Hugh and Laura (Seehafer) Lemma. On September 19, 1959 he married Janet Barwick in Pine City, Minnesota. She survives. For 22 years he was employed at Marathon Millwork then was employed for 18 years at Wausau Papers, Brokaw. Gale enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the 87th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Five Stars and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Survivors include his wife Janet Lemma, Wausau, four daughters, Mary Esthimer and Julie (fiancAC. Steve Landrath) Fochs and Michelle (Robert) Beck, all of Wausau and Lori Lemma, Mosinee, two sons, Lyle (Laurie) Lemma, Edgar and Brian Lemma, Wausau, his son-in-law, David Heskett, Arizona , 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one brother, Gordon Lemma, Wausau, one sister, Sharon (Don) Franz, Minnesota and his special friend from childhood, Fred "Fritz" Damp Jr., Merrill. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Dera, two great grandchildren, one brother, Vern and one sister, Marlene Tress. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Mr. Audeen Richetto will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
