Frieda "Lucy" Essex

Frieda “Lucy” Essex, 88, Rib Mountain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born August 7, 1936 in Fond du Lac, WI, daughter of the late Alphonse and Frieda Greenwald. On August 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to James Russell Essert in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2011.

Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed cross stich, taking care of her plants, reading and most of all, she loved her dog “Ginger”.

Survivors include two children, Lucie (Gary) Schumacher, Stetsonville and James (Cindy) Essex, Madison; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, James, she was preceded in death by three children, Elizabeth Zych, Victoria Kroening and Thomas Essex; her grandson, Albert Essex; and four siblings.

Per Lucy’s request, no services will be held.
