Fredrick Vetter

Fredrick "Fred" C. Vetter 90, Rothschild, died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born May 22, 1917 in Marathon, son of the late Hugo and Helen (Lang) Vetter. On September 1, 1941 he married Norma Baur at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. She survives. Fred served his country in the Army during World War II and earned a bronze star, two overseas service bars and a good conduct medal. He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No.10. Fred worked in chemical research at American Can for 39 years and always had good relations with his co-workers. Among his many hobbies he enjoyed traveling with his family to many states, fishing in Canada and spending time on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes. Survivors include his wife, Norma, Rothschild; children, Barbara (Bashir) Master, Wayne, N.J., Sister Elizabeth "Betty" Vetter S.D.S., Schofield and Gerald "Jerry" (Debra) Vetter, Mandan, N.D.; grandchildren, Maria Master M.D. Esq., Wayne, N.J., Tara Master Hunter, Gregory, MI, Yousef Master, Fairfax, V.A., Benjamin Master, Stanford, C.A., Sara Master, Hanover, N.H., Amy Vetter, Chicago, I.L., Kenneth (Jody) Vetter, Mandan, N.D. and Christopher Vetter, Mandan, N.D.; great grandchildren, Kalista Vetter, Ava Vetter and Arianne Hunter; brother, George Vetter, Wausau; sisters, Ernestine Rader, Wausau, Dorothy Brzezinski, Joan Wachtl, both of Milwaukee and Madeline (Frank) Trantow, Manawa. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Saint Mark Parish. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
