Frederick G. Penno

Frederick G. Penno 89, Athens, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at North Central Health Care, Wausau. He was born October 17, 1919 in Clovis, California to Fred and Minnie (Bramm) Penno. As a young child he with his parents and siblings moved to Athens where his parents bought the farm homestead which his grandparents, Christian and Anna Bramm built over 100 years ago. He attended Trinity Lutheran School where he excelled in class, skipping a grade and later attended Athens High School. Fred loved farming and after his parents death he took over the farm. Fred loved his Lord and served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church for some time and he also loved watching animals and birds. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy (Ferd) Mais, Wausau and two brothers, Carl Penno, Edgar and Lawrence Penno, Wausau and three nephews, Brian (Joan) Mais, Wausau, Mark (Bonnie) Penno, Iowa, and Tim (Linda) Penno of Marshfield. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two step brothers, Walter and Ervin Scherz. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. The Rev. Andrew Alberts will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
