Frederick J. Fochs Jr., 71, 132 Roberts St., Schofield, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends Wednesday, March 27, 2002 in the comforting care of Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
Fred was born October 13, 1930 in Sherwood, son of the late Fred Sr. and Agnes (Liljequivst) Fochs. He married Jane McIntyre on September 2, 1950 at the former St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau.
For 44 years, Fred had been employed with Wausau Insurance Companies, retiring as purchasing manager of the company.
Fred will be remembered as being a great friend and an avid sports enthusiast. He excelled in bowling, basketball and softball. Above all sports, golf was his favorite sport, and he looked forward to playing as often as possible. He was a member of the Wausau Country Club, the Elks Lodge, #248, Wausau and the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, Wausau.
Jane and Fred enjoyed 51 years of love and friendship and were always together camping, traveling, spending time at their home in Florida or their cottage in Rhinelander. They spent many hours around the campfire telling jokes and stories to his family and many friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors besides his wife Jane, include two sons, Michael (Nancy) Fochs, Mosinee and their daughters, Tiffany Fochs, Whitewater and Carrie Fochs and friend, Jeff Broman, Milwaukee; Patrick Fochs and special friend, Sheila Pudelko, Schofield, and her children, Josh, Houghton and Jessica, Wausau, one brother, Robert (Olive) Fochs, Rhinelander, his special and beloved mother-in-law, Madelyn McIntyre, Schofield, one sister-in-law, Sue (Joseph) Strehlow, Schofield, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Franklin McIntyre and a niece, Kathy (Fochs) Ertl.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. Rev. James Laak will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
Fred loved life and has always said 'It's a wonderful world,' a quote from his favorite song by Louis Armstrong.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Mount view Care Center for the loving care Fred received until the time of his death.
