Prior to Fred's illnesses, he was employed at Kolbe and Kolbe Millwork, then as a truck driver for CW Paper and City Delivery.
In Fred's younger years, he enjoyed attending drag and stock car races. He restored his 1968 Camaro and enjoyed car show competition. In Fred's later years, he enjoyed watching NFL, Badger and Brewer games on TV. His other interests included campfires at his summer trailer in Woodruff, an occasional trip to the casino and spending time with his family. Fred enjoyed the "golden oldies" 50s-60s music and always liked to play trivia, saying, "who's singing this?" Of course, he was always right.
Survivors besides his wife, Kathy included four children: Shawn (Heather) from Weston, Terrance from Madison, Erik (Nann) from Rothschild, and Ann from Wausau. Also his three grandchildren Megan, Alex and Kaylyn.
Fred also had five sisters, Mary (Lars) Rydell from Green Bay, Carla Carpenter from Wausau, Barb Wilde from Austin Texas, Cathy (Hap) Altillis from Annadale, Virginia, and Jane (Scott) Weber from Potomac Falls, Virginia. The five brothers include: Tom (Patti) from Lake Tomahawk, Steve (Diane) for Weston, John from Wausau, Bob (Monica) from Wausau and Kevin from Ashburn, Virginia as well as many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew and father Alvin.
