Fred D Henkelman, 89, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 17th, 2022.
He was born on July 27, 1932 in the Town of Hewitt, son of the late Fred Sr & Margaret (Raasch) Henkelman. On July 10, 1954 he married Gerda Grosskurth at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2008.
Fred owned and operated the family dairy farm in the Town of Hewitt. He also did mason work, roofing, logging, and cut and hauled firewood. Fred was a volunteer on the Town of Hewitt Fire Department for over 25 years, served as a town supervisor and as the town chairman. He was also very active at church serving on the church council, and managed the softball and dartball teams. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, polka dancing, pool league, trapping, cutting boughs, making wreaths, playing BINGO, and hunting, especially out West.
Survivors include his children: Dennis Henkelman, California, Tom (Marka) Henkelman, Merrill, Terry Caldwell, Virginia, and Faye DeLosh, Merrill; eight grandchildren: Jaime (TJ) Gooden, Dana (Eric) Woller, Lauren Henkelman (Matt Clawson), Cheyenne Caldwell, Katelynn DeLosh, Kurtis DeLosh, Cole Henkelman (Ally Geurink) and Wyatt Howard; six great-grandchildren: Allison, Caleb, Jayden, Evan, Nora, and Zach; brother-in-law Karl (Janice) Grosskurth, sisters-in-laws Thea Lee and Rosemary Grosskurth, along with cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Gerda, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, brother Lawrence (Marianne) Henkelman, sister Esther Dittmar, sister-in-law Irmgard (Ervin) Bunge, brothers-in-law Ernest, Werner, and Siegfried Grosskurth.
Visitation will be from 9AM-11:30AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River. Services will begin at 11:30AM. The Reverend Ted Gulhaugen will officiate.
