Fred W. Fisher Jr.
84, Wausau, died Sunday November 14, 2004 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
He was born June 18, 1920 in Rhinelander, son of the late Fred W. and Myrtle (Hanson) Fisher Sr. On December 7, 1944 he married Venita Peronto in Rhinelander. She survives.
Prior to his retirement, Fred had been employed at the former American Can and James River Plant, Wausau, where he was a member of their Fire Crew and First Aid Team. He served as past Captain and was a member of the Wausau Auxiliary Police Force. Among his many interests were hunting, fishing, skeet and trap shooting. He was also involved in the Hunter Safety Program, the CB Radio Club and was a charter member of the Rib Knights Snowmobile Club.
As a proud veteran of World War II, Fred served his country in the US Army with the 127th Infantry Company B, 32nd Arrow with service in New Guinea. In his military career, Fred earned many service ribbons including two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau and was also a member and past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Venita Fisher, Wausau, two sons, Ronald (Priscilla) Fisher, Wausau and Robert Fisher, Wausau, a grandson, Aaron (Elizabeth) Fisher and a granddaughter, Katherine (Daniel) Burish, one great-grandson, Andrew Fisher, his siblings, Richard (Patricia) Fisher, Elizabeth (Mike) Cody and David (JoAnn) Fisher.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Weds. November 17, 2004 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will officiate. Burial will in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home
