Franklin H. Ollhoff, 87, long time resident of the town of Maine died Friday, September 13, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Franklin was born March 5, 1915 in the town of Scott, son of the late Ferdinand and Bertha (Scharbius) Ollhoff. He graduated from Merrill High School and later married Mrytle Giese on November 28, 1940. They were happily married for 45 years until her untimely death February 28, 1985. He found happiness again with his wife Adela (Zunker/Treu). She survives.
Franklin was the owner/operator of F.H. Ollhoff Heating. His familiar red truck was spotted about the community as he serviced the heating and air conditioning needs of the area. In 1981 he retired and passed the family business to his son, Leroy. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau and served in many different leadership roles for the church. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends, traveling in his motor home, photographing flowers and animals in his park-like backyard, reading and playing cards. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was initiated into the Order of the Arrow.
Besides his wife, Adela, Schofield, he is survived by his children, Dale (Corky) Ollhoff, Leroy (Carol) Ollhoff, Barbara (Hal Heath) Ollhoff, step-children, Darrell (Eileen) Zunker, Hank (Charlotte) Zunker, JoAnn (Ralph) Rucinski; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother Ferdinand (Eleanora) Ollhoff.
Besides his beloved wife, Myrtle, and his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Gerald and ten sisters and brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Enurnment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or any heart or kidney association.
