Franklin O. Burger

Franklin O. Burger 84, 1002 Maple Street, Wausau, died Saturday June 18, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born February 7, 1921 in the town of Wausau, son of the late Theodore and Marie (Chaignot) Burger. On May 10, 1947, he married Helen Tarr in Wausau. She preceded him in death August 1, 1996. Prior to his retirement, Franklin had been a home builder in the Wausau area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, George Schreier Council No. 1069, Wausau. Franklin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army 836th Engineering Aviation Battalion in the South Pacific and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Survivors include three sons, Franklin Burger Jr., Madison, Clifford (Karen) Burger, LasVegas, Kenneth Burger, Wausau, a daughter, Janet (Tim) Firkus, Rosholt, five grandchildren, two brothers, Leon Burger and Theodore (Jean) Burger, all of Wausau, a sister-in-law, Susan Burger, Schofield. Besides his wife and parents, Franklin was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Brown, two brothers, Richard and Dennis Burger and a sister, Lorraine Burger. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 21, 2005 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Friends may call on Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
