Francis T. Lamer

Francis Thomas Lamer, 86, a resident of Wausau, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, in hospice care at Aspirus Hospital, in Wausau.

Fran was born on July 22nd, 1938 to the late Joseph and Estelle (Bauer) Lamer in Tomahawk, the 5th son in a family of eight children. He was extremely grateful for the blessing of his wonderful upbringing and family.

Fran’s father passed away in a car crash when he was 11. Afterword, he and his siblings ran the family mink farm to provide for their family. Fran attended and graduated from Stout State University (now U.W. Stout), with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He held senior management positions in several manufacturing companies, before founding a HVAC fabrication services company, Mechanical Incorporated, in Tomahawk, WI.

He married Mary Jane Cull on June 25, 1960, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, in Tomahawk. She died in a car crash on December 8, 1972, along with their daughter, Michelle.

Fran had a deep appreciation for nature and spent a lot of time hunting, and fishing. He also had a deep love of his family; immediate and extended. Fran enjoyed spending time with his sons and brothers, and their sons, on his hunting land in Tomahawk. His love of God, family, and all of God’s creation was central to who he was and was reflected in his decisions throughout his lifetime.

Fran married Kathleen Mary Carey on August 1, 1975, with whom he had 2 daughters.

Fran was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Michelle; his parents, Joseph and Estelle; two sisters, Rita Kuehling and Margaret Oelhofen; three brothers, Eugene, Vernon and Allan Lamer, and many other much loved family members.

Fran is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, Stephen (Sabine) and Jeffry (Jill) Lamer; his daughters, Lynn Lamer and Nancy (Patrick) Bougie; his brother Gerald (Pat) Lamer, and his sister Donna Magnuson, and many other much loved family members.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Anne Parish, Wausau. Rev. Tom Lindner will preside. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services, all at the church. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tomahawk on Saturday.
