Francis Gertschen

Francis Gertschen 68, of Minocqua, formerly of Marathon, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Howard Young Medical Center, Minoqua. He was born September 13, 1936 in Marathon, son of the late Frank and Amelia "Molly" (Seubert) Gertschen. For many years, Francis owned and operated Gertschen Implement in Marathon. He was a member of the Massey Ferguson Dealer Council. Francis was a pitcher for the Wausau Bakers baseball team, and went on to play in the minor leagues for the Hastings Giants in Hastings, Nebraska. Among his many interests, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Survivors include, two daughters, Lynn (Fiance Bill Schmidt) Hitchcock, Sun Prairie and JoAnn (Jon) Restuccia, Northville, Mich.; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Natalie and Nathan Restuccia; two brothers, Dennis (Jacky) Gertschen, Marathon, Norm (Colleen) Gertschen, Lake Tomahawk; one sister, Barb (Tom) Klumpyan, Schofield; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
