Francis "Bud" Fochs, age 95, Wausau, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Benedictine Living Communtity of Wausau, formerly Marywood Center.
He was born September 10, 1917 in Montana, son of the late John and Margaret (Krings) Fochs. On October 17, 1939 he married Ellen Mae Schilling in Halder. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2010.
Bud farmed the Fochs Granite Hills Farm for many years and was a member of both the town of Halder Board and the Halder Cheese Factory Board. He enjoyed writing and reading letters to the editior. He also enjoyed playing cards, attending baseball and softball tournaments and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors include his nine children, Doris Meyer, Florida, Ann Tambornino, Wausau, Mary (Fidelis) Ceranski, Marathon, Kay (Robert) Krause, Edgar, Jean (John) Westfall, Marathon, Charles (Nancy) Fochs, Lyndon Station, Grace (James) Gumz, Athens, James (Janelle) Fochs, Marathon and Robert (Mary) Fochs, Mosinee; one daughter-in-law, Audrey Fochs, Scandinavia; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Ellen, he was preceded in death by a son, Don Fochs, two sons-in-law, Orv Tews and Ray Meyer, and four brothers, Fred, Roman, Hubert and Lucian Fochs.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
