Frances H. Urban

Frances H. Urban 95, formerly of Rothschild, died Sunday August 30, 2009 at Harmony Terrace, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born March 5, 1914, daughter of the late Leo and Mildred (Washburn) McDonnell. On October 7, 1939, she married Arnold Urban in Iowa. He preceded her in death March 20, 1996. She attended Rothschild Grade School and graduated from Wausau High School in 1932. Frances and Arnold resided at 807 Everest Drive in Rothschild for many years and also enjoyed summers at their cottage on Manson Lake. Among her favorite pastimes were playing bridge and other card games. She was a member of the Rothschild Homemakers Club for 50 years and belonged to the Wausau Curling Club, Garden Club and two bridge clubs. Survivors include one son, Stuart (Marilyn) Urban, Lancaster, one granddaughter, Sara Urban, Madison, one grandson, Steven (Sarah) Urban, Germantown, three great grandchildren, Samantha, Eric and Kathryn Urban, Germantown, a niece, Mildred "Mimi" (Joe) Szekeress, Schofield, a nephew, Michael (Pat) Gaska, Rothschild and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen "Billie" Gaska. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 3, 2009 at Highland United Methodist Church, Rothschild. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Highland United Methodist Church, Rothschild.
