Frances E. Schmitt

Frances E. Schmitt 93, Wausau, died Monday, November 26, 2007 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. She was born October 16, 1914 in Saint Cloud, Minn., daughter of the late Guy and Anna (Croll) Keeney. On June 27, 1936, she married Harry Schmitt in Saint Cloud, Minn. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1974. Frances was a member of the Friday Morning Exercise Group and enjoyed bowling with the senior league. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Wausau and a member of the Esther Circle. Among her many interests, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with the residents of Sturgeon Bluff Apartments and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include, one son, Gene (Linda) Schmitt, Rib Mountain; one daughter, Gail (Lyle) Scott, New London; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Longwell and Doris Koprek, both of Saint Cloud, Minn. and Bernice Oliver, Wahpeton, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl and Neil Schmitt; one grandson, Kevin Schmitt; two brothers, Cecil and Donald Keeney; and two sisters, Gladys Field and Izetta Noyes. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, Wausau. Rev. Gerald Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
