Floyd R. Radant
79, West Fork Rd., Hazelhurst, a former Wausau resident, died Sunday October 28, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born May 11, 1922 in Marathon County, son of the late Reinhart and Ella (Matthiae) Radant. On July 4, 1941 he married Deloris M. Schubring in Wausau. She survives.
Floyd had been employed at the former James River Corp., Wausau and in 1961 he founded the Radant Insurance Agency, Wausau, which he operated until the time of his retirement. A lifelong member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau, Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling, especially spending winters at their home in Port Richey, Florida.
He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #248, Wausau, the Rib Mountain Lions Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post #388, Wausau. Floyd was an Army veteran of World War II. He received the Bronze Star for service in the Tenth Mountain Division while stationed in Italy.
Survivors besides his wife, Deloris, include three children, Carol (Edward) Wambold, Rhinelander, Deidre (William) Schael-Raasch, Wausau and Albert (Janelle) Radant, Mosinee, seven grandchildren, Alan (Heather) Wambold, Wayne (Jennifer) Wambold, John (Andrea) Wambold, Denise Schael, Amy Schael, Bradley (Roberta) Raasch and Christopher (Angie) Raasch, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert (Dorothy) Radant, Wausau.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 1, 2001 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW Honor Guard. Friends may call on Weds. from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be an Elks Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Weds. evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Comfort Care and Hospice Services or the American Cancer Society.
