Floyd E. Majeske
86, 411 No. 9th Avenue, Wausau, died Monday April 18, 2005 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
He was born March 31, 1919 in Wausau, son of the late Eugene and Mary (Engledinger) Majeske. On May 25, 1943 he married Kathleen Koy. She survives.
Floyd had been employed with the US Postal Services for 30 years, then worked in the safe deposit vault at M & I First American Bank, Wausau, for five years. After retiring from the bank, Floyd was actively involved as a funeral director's assistant at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home for over 20 years. Floyd was a great teller of tales and will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and joke telling ability.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army in the 78th Infantry Division from 1942 until 1945, having received the Bronze Star and Soldiers Medal.
A charter member of The Church of St. Anne, Floyd was also involved in his parish as an usher, volunteer and a member of the Thomas More Club. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, George Schreier Council No. 1069, Wausau, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau, a life member of the National Association Letter Carriers Branch 215, member of the Elks Lodge No. 248, the Wausau Hospital Centurions.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen "Katie" Majeske, Wausau, a son, James, Majeske, Wausau a brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Jeanette Stenzel, Wausau, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Majeske, two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 21, 2005 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice, Rev. John Malik and Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Friends may call on Weds. From 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a combined parish and Knights of Columbus Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Weds. Evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
