Florian A. Pawlowski
88, 610 Schlegel St., Athens, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1916 in town of Rietbrock, son of the late Edward and Agnes (Urmanski) Pawlowski. On June 3, 1947, he married Annabelle Donlevy in Oconto. She survives.
Florian was a dairy farmer in the town of Rietbrock until retiring in 1979. During this time he was a pulp and milk hauler and did custom field work for area farmers. He was a past president of the Fish & Game Club, member of the Athens Old Timers Band, Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Anthony Catholic Church usher, Town of Rietbrock Chairman and Marathon County Supervisor. Besides enjoying fishing and hunting in his early years, Florian enjoyed playing sheepshead, watching or listening to the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers but especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Annabelle, Athens, survivors include four children, David (Phyllis) Pawlowski, Athens, Katherine (Dale) Rauen, Edgar, Sharon (Dan) Westfall, Athens and Linda (Michael) Kloth, Medford; 12 grandchildren; Suzette (David) Zillmer, Michael (Tina) Pawlowski, Sandra (Leon) Gundrum, Tracy (Jason) Lepak, Kristina (James) Knott, Sarah (William Schmidt) Westfall, Travis Westfall, Jennifer (Shain) Gowey, Ember (Michael) Ackerman, Nicole Scheithauer, Enita (Mark) Schreiner & Crystal Kloth; 15 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kelly Ann Westfall; one brother, Frank Pawlowski and one foster sister, Virginia Heldt.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2005 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
There will be a 7:00 p.m. parish rosary service Friday evening at the Athens funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church or school.
